An evening with Robert Schumann. An Schumann inspired dinner, English and French art songs followed by Schumann's Dichterliebe Song Cycle performed by Ittinat Seeboonruang (baritone) and Elvira Galiullina (pianist).
Ittinat’s interest in singing began when he joined a school choir in Germany as an exchange student. Upon his return to Thailand, he started taking voice lessons with Sophie Tanapura (soprano). His voice teachers also included the late Dr. Kenneth Scheffel (tenor), Almuth M. Kroll (soprano), Dr. Jan-ate Stobbe (tenor), and Mark Oswald (baritone).
With the Metropolitan Opera of Bangkok, founded by Sophie Tanapura, Ittinat has had many opportunities to explore operatic roles such as Kilian and Prince Ottokar (Der Freischuetz, 2009), Dr. Blind and Colonel Frank (Die Fledermaus, 2008), Il Conte d’Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro, 2007). He has also sung in several concerts and Liederabende, including a concert tour in India in November 2009.
Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts in German with First-Class Honors from Thammasat University, Ittinat is now pursuing his second year of Master’s studies in Vocal Performance at the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. He is under the tutelage of famed British bass-baritone, John Shirley-Quirk.
